4 Things I Love About the Foundry LIC

4 Things I Love About the Foundry LIC. I shoot all over. And I love learning about new spaces. But some venues are tried and true to my heart. Such is the case with the
Foundry in LIC
. Set against an edgy industrial backdrop, it boasts a peekaboo view of the bridge. It’s a magnificent spot to shoot. There are multiple outdoor patios for photos. But the piece de resistance of the venue is it’s great room (scroll to see). It is easy to festoon the iron girders with lanterns and flowers. Furthermore, the brick nooks set throughout the area offer a place to tuck in for a secret chat with another guest. Or a spot to kick off the
Loubies
and chill with a slice of cake.
I hope you enjoy this rundown of 4 things I love most about the Foundry.
1. Where it is Located
The Foundry is in an almost secret locale in the chic urban enclave of Long Island City. Simply put, it’s location adds to the intrigue. It makes it easy to shoot wedding portraits against the brick and vines. You'll feel like you are going to a secret speak easy.
2. The History
To enumerate, the Foundry is a 19th-century building that has been restored to showcase a mixture of industrial and modern. O
nce upon a time, it was a factory where fine varnishes were manufactured. After that, the building housed The Albra Metal Foundry in the early 1900s. And their logo can even be seen on the property today. Then later, in the 1970s, this space was abandoned until purchased by the Du Val family in 1980. Since then, the space has been gradually renovated to reflect its original character. After a fashion, an extra balance of sophistication and beauty was established to reveal the beautiful space you see today.
3. The Scenery
There are so many fabulous spots within the property. I love shooting them all. The Main Space, The Terrace, the little nooks everywhere. After a fashion, it’s a dream for a NYC wedding photographer.
4. They are the sweetest.
I love working with the Foundry. This is important. As an NYC wedding photographer, we work with big teams all the time. Furthermore, it is always imperative to have an organized staff. Because of this, we love the
Foundry.
