Getting Married at City Hall NYC

Dear Couples,
NYC City Hall is one of my
favorite wedding venues in the world. Just for the people watching it gets
a ten from me. Perhaps you’re a last minute planner, perhaps you go down to the molecule on a spread sheet. In any case, the whole process is very civilized. On the day, after arrival and check in, you get your number, as in a deli-style number. Then, simply pay the fee to the cashier; it’s approximately $30USD. Immediately after your number is called, you sit in the antechamber for the chapel. Once you’re in that room it won’t be long.
There is a brief wait. Then the judge will come get you. You will be married in one of two wedding chapels flanking the waiting room. Both contain historic elements in a glass enclosure to remind you of the history of the institution. Additionally, there are sofas for people to sit if they need. These are useful as many couples bring senior citizens or people who need to sit down. As well as that, there are occasionally babies or young children who need to sit. Besides the room decor, there stands a podium, behind which the officiant stands. Furthermore, you will be married in exactly that spot.
The City Hall courthouse is a great backdrop.
Since the ceremony is only a few minutes we’ll have lots of time to shoot candids around the neighborhood. Chinatown is at your back door, and Tribeca a stone’s throw. Both offer excellent dining options, great side streets and infamous opportunities to shoot an excellent wedding album. As a NYC city hall wedding photographer, I can’t resist the landscape of the area. We’ll take a walk around the marble rooms, stone stairs and big brass doors for interesting places to shoot.
After a fashion, your ceremony will be a memory. It all goes by so fast. However, you’ll remember the great time you had, and all the money you saved, at your chic, low key and most of all fun NYC City Hall wedding.
