Book Updates - Press Checks

Book tests happen on press in real time. This means that the author, in this case the artist — me, goes to the actual press and approve the way the printed photos look. This press is operated by my publisher, L’Artiere. Run by two identical twin brothers, they are third generation Italian printers who work only in the artisanal photo book space. The presses are gigantic offset printing machines and weigh hundreds of tons. Offset printing changes the gamma of each picture, so an artist has to quickly become accustomed to how they look. The ink, the paper, the printing files. All of it works together to create a new fact. You can see the paper side of the book in the video below. You’ll have to wait, though, to see the real thing.
